O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop is designed to clean and sanitize all sealed floors that tolerate hot steam cleaning. This includes tiles, vinyl, marble, stone, sealed hardwood, sealed laminate and similar.
When cleaning sensitive wooden, laminate and similar floors, be sure that their finish has no cracks, or hot steam will enter the wood, which will over time buckle and rot. Even if your floor finish is certified for steam cleaning, be sure to test the cleaning on small area, just to be sure - of course, this goes for all steam mops, not just O-Cedar steam mop.
O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop comes with 1550 W heater, which requires some 20 seconds to start to produce the steam.
Unit controls allow the user to change the amount of steam during cleaning. At the minimum setting, unit produces around 14g of steam per minute, and at the maximum setting, unit produces around 23g of hot steam.
Such steam is hot enough to sanitize the floors - unit kills ~99.9% of bacteria, which are then removed from the floor by the microfiber cleaning pad.
Maximum width of the unit is 300 mm (slightly less than 12 inches) and that is the cleaning width of the triangular steam cleaning head.
Maximum length of the unit is 200 mm (slightly less than 8 inches) and its weight is ~5 pounds (2.3 kg) with an empty tank. Unit height is 1200 mm (~47 inches).
Tank capacity is 400 ml, allowing the unit to produce the steam from ~17 minutes (maximum steam setting) to ~28 minutes (minimum steam setting).
Note: Unit doesn't come with detachable water tank - it comes with 200 ml filling cup.
When unit arrives, it must be assembled, which can be done quickly and easily. However, before the first use, be sure to read the manual thoroughly.
O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop - Tap Water or Not?
According to the O-Cedar, this steam mop can be used with tap water. If/when unit starts to produce the steam more slowly (or even stops completely), it is time to clean the unit - limescale develops on the metal parts inside the unit and prevent the unit from operating properly.
Unit is cleaned using cleaning solution consisting of one third of white vinegar and two thirds of tap water - solution is filled into the tank and unit is turned on with steam setting on maximum (be sure that the steam doesn't reach floor, objects, people...). After the cleaning (if it was NOT successful, do it again), repeat the procedure using plain water.
Note: for the exact maintenance procedures, check the manual!
Personally, demineralized or distilled water costs more than tap water, but personally, not that much! And saves you plenty of time, especially in the areas with hard tap water. Not to mention that tap water can leave streaks and marks on shiny floors, due to the limescale deposits.
If you like, you can use scented demineralized water to increase the feeling of cleanness and freshness after the cleaning.
O-Cedar Steam Mop Microfiber Cleaning Pads
O-Cedar steam mop uses reusable microfiber cleaning pads. They are thick and can clean even the tile grout.
After the floor cleaning, cleaning pads can be machine washed at 140°F (60°C), just don't use bleach or fabric softeners. Microfiber cleaning pads can withstand up to 25 washes.
When required, replacement pads can be ordered online.
Note: when removing dirty cleaning pad from the unit and putting on a clean one, be very careful, as the dirty cleaning pad can be very hot.
Also, since this is 'steam mop only' unit, if the floors are heavily soiled, vacuuming first can actually speed up cleaning.
O-Cedar Steam Mop Carpet Glider
O-Cedar steam mop comes with the carpet glider cleaning attachments.
Carpet glider enable the steam mop to refresh and revive the carpet and to clean its surface.
However, deeper cleaning of the carpets is not possible with steam mops. Also, be sure that your carpets tolerate such cleaning.
O-Cedar Microfiber Steam Mop comes with one year limited warranty.
